National Register of Historic Places for Pensacola, Florida

 

Pensacola, Florida lies within the boundaries of Escambia County. This city has been led by France, Spain, Great Britain and the United States. However, it was originally a European settlement.

 

Pensacola’s founder was Don Tristan de Luna; he founded the city during 1559. Pensacola housed Fort Pickens, Fort Barrancas and Fort McRee. Geronimo was held captive inside Fort Pickens.

 

People associated with Pensacola are Michelle Snow, Joe Durant, Fred Levin, Jay Bell, Emmitt Smith, Justin Gatlin and Roy Jones, Jr.

 

Pensacola, Florida celebrates a Polar Bear Dip, Black History Month, the International Film & Television Festival, Festival on the Green, Pensacola JazzFest, Crawfish Creole Fiesta, the Pensacola Interstate Fair, the Frank Brown Songwriters’ Festival and St. Anne’s Christmas Lights.
